Born in January or early February 2018?
The 2018 Dog year began at Chinese New Year on Feb 16, 2018. If you were born from January 1 to Feb 15, 2018, your sign is the Fire Rooster of 2017. The year ended on Feb 4, 2019, so birthdays in early 2019 up to that date still count as Dogs.
The Korean saju year starts at Ipchun
In Korean saju (the Four Pillars), the year pillar changes at Ipchun, the start of spring — Feb 4, 2018 at about 06:26 Korea time — not at Lunar New Year. A birthday from Feb 4 to Feb 15, 2018 is already 戊戌 (Earth Dog) in a saju chart but still a Rooster by Lunar New Year. Why saju starts the year at Ipchun →
The Earth Dog personality
The Earth Dog is steady and responsible, slow to change its mind and slower still to abandon anyone. Both the year stem and the Dog’s own branch are Earth, so the Earth character is doubled this year. Earth brings steadiness, patience and practical sense.
Dogs are honest and dependable. Once you are on their side, they defend you to the end, and they cannot stand injustice. Strengths: loyalty; a strong sense of fairness; responsibility. Watch for: anxiety and constant vigilance; rigidity; distrust that is slow to fade.
