Born in January or early February 1944?
The 1944 Monkey year began at Chinese New Year on Jan 25, 1944. If you were born from January 1 to Jan 24, 1944, your sign is the Water Goat of 1943. The year ended on Feb 12, 1945, so birthdays in early 1945 up to that date still count as Monkeys.
The Korean saju year starts at Ipchun
In Korean saju (the Four Pillars), the year pillar changes at Ipchun, the start of spring — Feb 5, 1944 at about 07:25 Korea time — not at Lunar New Year. A birthday from Jan 25 to Feb 4, 1944 is already a Monkey by Lunar New Year but still 癸未 (Water Goat) in a saju chart. In Korea, Seollal (Lunar New Year) fell on Jan 26, 1944, one day after the Chinese date, because the new moon arrived just before midnight in China and just after it in Korea (why the dates differ).
