Today's reading

Every day carries its own pillar of energy. How today's pillar meets your chart is your daily reading — recalculated at midnight.

How it works

Every day has a pillar of its own

Saju counts time in pairs of characters: one of ten heavenly stems over one of twelve earthly branches. Years, months and hours each have a pair, and so does every day. The sixty possible pairs repeat in an unbroken cycle that Chinese and Korean calendars have kept for well over two thousand years, so every date has its own day pillar, the same for everyone.

What makes the reading yours is where that pillar lands in your chart. The day’s stem meets your Day Master, the character that stands for you, as one of the Ten Gods: support, a peer, output, wealth or pressure. That relationship sets the theme of the day. The day’s branch can harmonize or clash with your Day Branch, the seat of your routines and closest relationships, and that is where the note under the theme comes from.

How the score is built

The energy score starts from a neutral middle. It rises when today’s stem and branch bring the kind of energy your chart can use, and dips when they tip it further off balance. Which kinds help depends on whether your Day Master is strongly or gently supported by the rest of the chart. A harmony with your Day Branch lifts the score and a clash lowers it. The result stays between 20 and 96, because no day is perfect and none is hopeless.

Read over ten-year stretches instead of single days, the same idea gives the luck pillars, the long seasons of a life; read month by month, it gives the monthly horoscope for each sign.

FAQ

Is this the same as a daily Chinese horoscope?

No. Horoscopes by animal sign give the same text to everyone born in the same year. This reading starts from your Day Master and Day Branch, which come from your birth day, so two people born in the same year usually get different days.

Why do I have to cast my chart first?

The reading needs your Day Master, your Day Branch and the balance of your chart. Your birth date is enough. It is kept only in this browser, so the page can recalculate every day without asking again.

When does the day change?

At midnight on your device’s clock. Some saju schools start the day at 11 pm, the beginning of the Rat hour; this page follows the calendar date you are living in.

Does a low score mean something bad will happen?

No. The score describes the texture of the day, whether it pushes with you or against you, not events. Use a low day for maintenance and routine, and a high day for asks, pitches and first steps.

Do I need my birth time?

No. The Day Master, the Day Branch and most of the chart’s balance come from the date alone. A birth time adds the Hour Pillar and can shift the balance slightly.
